What Do Roof and Shingle Warranties Cover?
These warranties cover different things based on who they originate with. Shingle and other roofing material manufacturers will offer warranties that cover replacement costs only if the shingles themselves are defective.
If a roofing contractor offers additional warranties, they could cover installation methods or workmanship. Ask questions before signing a contract to have any roofer replace or repair the roof on the house or other residential property.
Things Not Covered By Roof and Shingle Warranties
Natural wear and tear on the roof shingles is never covered by manufacturer’s warrantee rules. No shingle or other roofing material lasts forever and normal deterioration should be expected.
Shingle warranties do not cover anything other than the shingles themselves. This includes fasteners, underlayment, gutters, vents, or flashing. They also have nothing to do with damage caused to the home during the roof installation process.
